Video Game Reviews of PlayStation Portable 3000 with LittleBigPlanet, The Karate Kid [UMD for PSP], and 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo - 2010 Black Friday Bundle

Customer Review: A great deal for those looking to get into the PSP market!
Summary: 5 Stars

Assuming the Black Friday price comes around again, this is the best point-of-entry (or re-entry, as the case may be for me) into the PSP market. You get the most recent iteration of the PSP (assuming that the Asia-specific Monster Hunter 3 bundle doesn't make it here), Little Big Planet (awesome game for any age), a UMD movie, and a 1 GB memory stick. I'd definitely recommend upgrading the memory stick to something bigger. 8GB and 16GB sticks are inexpensive and plentiful, and it lets you also take advantage of the PlayStation Network (and other features). Games like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and Little Big Planet (the bundled game) have data install features that allow for shorter load screens and a 1GB memory stick won't be enough space if the person you're buying this for has a decent sized collection of games.

And speaking of games, there are a large variety of games out there. The PSP is known for the huge variety of SRPG games available for it (Disgaea series, Joanne de Arc, Final Fantasy Tactics, the upcoming Tactics Ogre game). You also have your action games (God of War series, MGS:PW, Phantasy Star Online 2), your concept games (Patapon series, Loco Roco series, Echochrome series, Little Big Planet), and other genres covered. Avenues of getting these games vary from new (like here from Amazon), used (take your choice), or via the PlayStation Network. This is what I consider a true benefit of the PSP-3000 versus the PSP-Go: the options of getting games.

Personally, I love this most recent iteration of the PSP-3000. It's light weight, brighter screen, and crisper graphics allow me to enjoy playing games like Disgaea without feeling fatigued compared to my older PSP-1000. Well worth the investment if you're someone new to the system or someone upgrading from an PSP-1000. Upgrading from a PSP-2000 however, that you'll have to find out from someone that has owned one. :)

Where would LittleBigPlanet be without a Create mode? Missing one of its key ingredients, and tasting slightly odd, that's for sure. The Karate Kid (2010) on UMD

12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual - but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.
