Video Game Reviews of PSP Composite AV Cable

Customer Review: Details on website missing VITAL INFORMATION. No gameplay via composite?
Summary: 1 Stars

So when I opened my package, the Composite AV link said "Videos, Music, and UMDs on your television." Unfortunately this was a warning that this site as well as the few others which sell this product are missing. Because in the big and fine print on the packaging, it clearly states gameplay cannot be played through these cables.

Bwuh?!? Yes, I was quite shocked and annoyed as well but there it is, the key feature of the PSP-2000 is lacking in these cables. And these worst part is how hard this information was to come by. Consider yourself warned. I sure wasn't.

Customer Review: This product cannot display In-Game & XMB to TV screen
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this one yesterday but when I read the back of the package carefully, its says, "This product cannot be used to display images from games on a TV screen." "This cable allows the PSP(R) system to ouput photos/videos/music to a TV... This product may not be able to display some images from non-game functions on a TV screen." That I means is that you can't display in-game and in-xmb (xcross media bar) images to TV screen. Here's the picture that I took. [...] I bought these at my local Fry's Electronic retail store for [...]. They have lots of Component & Composite Cables in stock but the tag says, "Limit 1 item per household". I tried to buy in 3 (2 Composites & 1 Component) but Frys will not accept AMEX, only MC, Visa, Check & Cash. I'll go back again to return this Composite to exchange for Component and get another one of these!

Customer Review: Can't play PSP games using this cable.
Summary: 2 Stars

Hi all just got my AV cable in the mail today and I'm upset. I purchased the "PSP 2000 Composite AV Cable" from Amazon for $14.99. When I got home I could not wait to connect it to the TV... So as soon as I hit the kitchen I cut open the box, went right to the TV and hooked it all up. I had been watching the Family Guy UMD that came with my Silver PSP so I fired up the AV mode from the settings screen and the TV screen came to life as the Screen on the PSP went blank. I navigated over to the Video mode and started the Family Guy UMD. That open fine and I started to watch a show... Then I stopped the show and launched the browser and connected to Google, that worked fine! Then I tried to start a game, when I was prompted with a message that read the following

"To display the screen on a connected device, you must be connected using a Component AV cable or a D-terminal AV cable and you must output the video content in progressive format."

I guess that means no game play on a TV unless your using something better then Composite! If I'm wrong please, by all means let me know. I don't have any TVs with Component so this pisses me off.
