Video Game Reviews of God of War Chains of OlympusCustomer Review: A short ride, but one of the best you'll find on the PSP. Summary: 4 StarsI have to admit: I didn't have too much faith in the game when it first came out. While it did have God of War in the title and feel, it seemed like a daunting task to deliver a game with such an epic scope and polish as its console brethren had. Well I've eaten my words: GoW: Chains of Olympus is quite possibly the best title the PSP has seen to date (maybe period).
It manages to capture the brutality and smoothness of the console titles, plus maintain its own originality. Chains of Olympus doesn't feel like a poorly built toss-in to cash in on the name, it has a well defined identity as the lost chapter in Kratos' life that really makes the player understand the anger and madness of the fallen champion of Olympus.
Given the PSP's limitations in terms of controls (namely the lack of a second analog stick and the pain large hands will feel playing on this for too long), Chains of Olympus plays really well. The biggest weakness GoW suffers from is that it is extremely short. You could quite possibly blow through the game in roughly five hours.
It's kind of hard for me to really recommend this game at full price due to how really, really short it is but without hesitation it is a must play, most especially if you're a God of War fan.
Customer Review: God of War: Chains of Olympus Summary: 5 StarsVery good game. This is the first full God of War game I have played. It has made me go back and purchase the other games so that I can be ready for when God of War III comes out. The camera angles stick every now and then, but not a problem as it corrects itself very quickly. This game is especially fun to play when the PSP is hooked up to a TV to get a bigger picture, but the PSP screen is more than effecient for this game.
Customer Review: The Gods Get Tiny Summary: 5 StarsHaving played the other two God of War titles, I still didn't expect much from a small-screen PSP game. I have to say I've been incredibly impressed with Chains of Olympus for the PSP: the game looks and plays 99% identical to its big-screen counterparts.
(For kicks, you *can* grab an A/V cable and play it on your TV...but I digress)
Just as with other titles in the series, Chains of Olympus provides you with an ongoing storyline, heaps of slaughter, and many different combinations to produce the right effect in battle. It also gives you the ability to choose which skill areas to "level" as you collect orbs, and how far you want to raise them. Last, we have the in-game plot sequences and the unusual puzzles (reader beware: your sexual skills will be put to the test shortly into the first chapter).
There are differences, but thus far I see only minor ones: for example, camera rotation can be a bit difficult, and dodge-rolls require tapping both shoulder buttons. These are still somewhat easily worked around: with a little time and practice, a player can adapt pretty easily.
Overall, if you're a fan of the God of War games and want the same experience on the go, you won't be disappointed. If you're new to God of War, this is what you'll get on the big screen, too--you will enjoy Chains of Olympus as much as you'd enjoy the others.
Customer Review: Great Game Summary: 5 StarsThis is a wonderful game...though somewhat short. Graphics and game play are excellent and a little nudity, sex and blood really spice things up. Two tips: if you have a choice between magic and energy, take the magic. If you die enough times at a single spot your health comes back, but not the magic. Also, square, square, triangle is one of the best attacks...learn it early. It will serve you well especially against groups of enemies.
Customer Review: BEST PSP GAME Summary: 5 Starsby far the best looking game on psp to date. truly shows what a good game system the psp can be when some one takes the time to make the game for the psp and not rehash a game from another system.
