Video Game Reviews of PSP Stereo Station PlusCustomer Review: A good peripheral, but not worth the cost. Summary: 3 Stars
Here in Canada this item retails for around $70, which is a big chunk of change to pay for a pair of speakers for your PSP. Overall the design is decent, and the tilt arm for the PSP allows you to swing the arm back and forth as well as tilt the PSP at the end of the arm.
The speakers are good, but they certainly aren't going to blow you away. Fortunately I found this unit at a store that was having a 25% off all PSP peripherals sale, even still, I'm not really sure I got my money's worth.
Here are a couple of my pet peeves about the unit...
1. No AC adapter. Seriously, for the price you would think they could throw a cable in there.
2. The volume + and - buttons, and the play / pause and forward / rewind buttons are all clear. When I first pulled it out of the box I saw the buttons and thought they lit up, which would have been a nice touch. As it is without any light it actually makes the buttons a little hard to see. (EDIT: Sorry, the buttons DO light up, but only when you press them, which still makes them hard to see...)
3. On the cover of the box the front of the unit looks like it is made of clear plastic, and it gives the impression that there is a spot to put a couple of UMD discs. However, once you get it out of the package that area of the the unit is actually just a black piece of plastic that has the hip|gear logo on it.
Basically this is a really great peripheral that didn't end up in the right price range. At about $30 I probably would have let all these little things go, but even at $49 US ($59 CAD) this unit feels like it should have been just a little more polished.
