Monster Hunter Freedom
By: Capcom
System: PlayStation Portable - PSP
The story intro (taken from the instruction book): What Story?
Story: 0/5
The story in this game is very weak. You must take a job assignment to kill, gather or trap a monster. You get to carve any animals that you kill, farm for more items to use, to make a new item, and repeat over and over and over till you toss your PSP into a wall!
Sound: 2/5
The sound in the game is good, the music changes tempo when you are near a strong monster. This feature helps to keep you on the edge, while trying to hunt down your target. The music also gives warning when to run from an ultra tough monster.
Graphics: 3/5
The graphics are in 3D. The game truly looks good.
Gameplay: 3/5
Working as a team (Ad Hoc/Infrastructure) and hunting down a tough monster is tons of fun. When playing solo this game is not as great and at times a bit tiresome and tedious.
Replay Value: 4/5
This is where this game shines. It supports up to 4 players in "Link" mode allowing up to 4 players to join in on a hunt at one time. Working as a team can make the most boring hunt, fun!
Overall: 2.5/5
This is a so-so game. Only the Monster Hunter fans from the PS2 game are going to love this game. I did like the multi-player aspect of the game. It lacked story and that is one of the major reasons why I play videogames. Oh and don't forget to CARVE! CARVE! CARVE!
Customer Review: PSP Monster Hunter Summary: 5 Stars If you liked the original Monster Hunter and still want more then look no farther. Freedom gives exactly that thew freedom to play Monster Hunter anywhere, anytime with friends or without. Adds new variations on old monsters and new monsters all together. Does get a little repetitive but for the true Monster Hunter it delivers greeat gameplay and hours upon hours of fun.
Customer Review: 100% Awesome Summary: 5 StarsMonster Hunter isn't for everyone, that's for certain. Capcom has made this game with a very specific audience in mind: Hardcore gamers. The game is nothing BUT hardcore.
You start off as a rookie hunter being taught the ways of the hunt by the village elder, he gives you a few quests right off the bat that are fairly mundane like gathering mushrooms and cooking meat which may seem boring to some, but to people new to the game it's a very necessary learning process that will help you get used to the controls.
Once you fight your first monster it gets more and more intense as the difficulty and size of the monsters increases. At times it'll seem impossible to defeat them but when you strike that final blow and the adrenaline pumping through your body starts to calm down you get such a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that you can't help but think: "I wonder what's next" From Velociprey to Fatalis this game keeps you riveted from start to finish.
and don't listen to the guys reviewing it that say the camera sucks. The camera is amazing, you just have to know how to use it and when to use it. in some areas the default setting for the camera will leave you at a disadvantage, so you have to learn to change it. know when to use the L button to center it. Know when to use the D-pad to swing it around. It's all about timeing and skill.
and the load times... Come on. we've had worse, and they're no longer than they were on the PS2 version. if anything they're actually a little shorter.
100/100
if you like games buy it. Period. You owe it to yourself as a gamer at least to try. 90% of Japan can't be wrong.
Customer Review: This game is awesome Summary: 5 StarsI hope they make more of these they are truly amazing very capturing games. Let the hunt begin!
